We play live music in a way that is free of the computers, sequencers and loopers that are usually associated with electronic music. This approach allows us to improvise and tune in to the dancers and audience in a way that is more dynamic and responsive.
The primary inspiration for our music is the progression through the ‘wave’ of 5 Rhythms and Ecstatic Dance – Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. This approach has allowed us to bring together different genres of music into a coherent whole, including tribal percussion, breakbeats, house, techno, drum and bass, jazz and drone.
We use our own equipment to mix our sounds and, because we have no need for a mixing desk, microphones or a sound engineer at the venue, we can easily play at venues that operate a sound system but usually only have DJ’s. If we’re using the in-house PA then our setup takes only 15-20 minutes. We can also bring our own PA for smaller events.
